Research & Planning 5: Casting

In this post I will present to you our cast and how we came about choosing these amazing people.

Our team set out to cast professional actors instead of using fellow classmates as we felt that they would be able to convey the story of maya in a much different perspective and we would be able to gather a cast of people we were more aware of their abilities and ways we could work work with them. We used www.starnow.com to advertise our need for cast and we received great responses and ultimately chose the following:

Name: Cqimere Douglas

Age: 22

Education: Brit School & Identity School of Acting

This actress had great experience and an overall feel for the role of Maya. Her ability to convey more than one side of herself made us feel she was more than perfect for the role with her quirky personality and upbeat attitude to the point when she's serious and selfless. It was the perfect image and combination for the role and we were all glad to have her join us for this project.

Name: Hytham Sempa

Age:

Education: Brit School

His bold and courageous nature was a great fit for Drew. He was really good at showcasing a range of expressions especially defeat which we really needed for our opening sequence so we really hoped to find a character who was versatile and Hytham was just that.

Name: Shakiel Bahia

Age: 20

Surprisingly, Shakiel actually is a coach at Mckenzie's Boxing gym who was very enthusiastic with our proposition to use their location and was very eager to participate and it was very helpful as we needed someone with experience and expertise to help us not make any mistakes in conveying the normal day to day boxing activities of people who play the sport. So we felt that he would be a brilliant Coach Stiles.

This is our Cast and we are very happy to say that we're very much pleased with this line up and we look forward to how everything will work together on filming day.
